A week later, she blogs about it.

So, we have a new President. Of course, I wouldn't know it because it's not like it's been all over the news or anything. It's also not like I got the latest issue of People magazine with the words Special Election Issue on it. Or like every single one of my friends on Facebook and Myspace decided to change their statuses to something Election related.

Well, on that note let me just tell you a little secret.

I didn't vote.

What?!!!

Yup. I couldn't. I'm not an American citizen yet, so no voting for me. I wanted to, though.

I wish I could have been a (real) part of this historic event so I could be able to tell my grand-children about how my vote helped elect the first African American president.
I will, however, tell them about how I watched the news from 7pm to 12am and try to put into words the feeling I got when more and more states turned blue.
I will tell them that their grandma was a big softy who BAWLED her eyes out when the new President elect gave his victory speech. Oh, and when he said that thing about a puppy for his daughters? Grandma absolutely lost it. Couldn't think straight and had to lay down because of how overwhelmed she was.

And I will definitely, definitely show them that Special Election Issue with the President on the cover. I'm saving it for them.

Other than the voting bit, we had a very similar election night. And it makes it that much more meaningful that I voted knowing others don't have that right.
